Playgroups: Supported Community Playgroups
All of our playgroups are Free, with no need to register before attending. Arrive any time between 9.30-11.30 am, introduce yourself to the playgroup facilitator, and they will be happy to assist with registering and signing you in. Our playgroups are hosted by the Family Support team, focusing on making Playgroups a safe space for all inclusive, and fun. Playgroups Participants are from diverse cultures and nationalities and are made of a variety of family units, making for wonderful opportunities to connect.
For the health and safety of all families, please do not attend if you or your child/ren are unwell.
Monday Playgroup at the Caloundra Community Centre, 9.30am-11.30am for Parents and Caregivers with children 0-5 years old, runs during the school term. This is an outdoor playgroup which is weather dependent. If it is raining, please call the Caloundra Community Centre on 54914000 from 9am to confirm whether playgroup has been cancelled. Monday playgroup is all about unstructured play for little ones, and providing opportunities for all parents and caregivers to make social connections. We encourage sun safety for all participants, and suggest that you bring morning tea, water and a spare change of clothing for little ones. Assisting the facilitators with setting up and packing up activities is appreciated.
Wednesdays for Mums, Bumps & Bubs at the Baringa Community Centre 9.30am-11.30am for Mothers of children 0-18months old, and pregnant women. The primary focus of this group is to support mothers to connect with other mothers who are going through or recently experienced pregnancy and child birth; discuss matrescence; the diversity of what ‘normal’ baby development is; referral to Family Support Case Management if desired; and where to go for external support if needed. This playgroup is held inside, in air-conditioning, and runs throughout the year (excluding Public Holidays and Christmas Closure).
Fun Fridays from Baringa Community Centre 9.30am-11.30am for all Parents and Carers with children 0-5 years old, runs during the school term. With inside and outside play opportunities, offering creativity, imagination, adventure, connection, and a little bit of mess. We encourage Parents and Carers to make sure the child/ren have Sun Safety, healthy snacks, water, a change of clothing for the potential ‘mess’ mentioned earlier and when possible, to support the playgroup facilitator with set up or pack up activities.
